S10 Computer

My buddy has a 2001 S10 like me and his check engine light is on, well he repalced the 02 Sensor (because it was determined to be bad) and his light did not go off, how do you make the S10 Computer forget the codes. We tried taking hte Neg battery termanal off for 20 min and nothing happened, we also tried pressing the break in also.

any idea?

Re: S10 Computer

Maybe use a scantool to clear it .usually disconecting the battery works(unless the light is on for different reasons) I would check the code again and make sure it has to do with the o2 sensor

Re: S10 Computer

it said the o2 sensor and fuel contamination and the guy said that could be caused by the dry gas you put in it

Re: S10 Computer

Hi, Your S10 ECM is OBD2 ,a check engine light must be cleared with a scanner or 3 warm up cycles without the problem reappearing.(3days) easy way to explain warm up cycle. no other way to do it. TOM

Re: S10 Computer

In english that means what he said Drive the car for three days and see if it will clear itself or get a scantool to remove it.On OBD1(on board diagnostics) you can just unhook the neg cable but apparently on OBD ll (96'+) it won't work.

Re: S10 Computer

Hi, As stinky said, drive for 3 days if light is still on,o2 was not your problem. You need some one who has a scanner.Any of your friends work at a GM dealer? TOM

Re: S10 Computer

well there were 2 codes when he paid 56 bucks to have it read, the one code was the O2 Sensor and the other was fuel contamination. so he has been feeding it high grade gas for a week or so. but no I do not know anyone with a scantool.

Re: S10 Computer

High grade gas isn't gonna help.Run a can of BG44K or Seafoam through the tank on 89 octane and change the fuel filter as well. Then see what happens.

Re: S10 Computer

Someone said touch the battery cables together. But I couldn't see that doing anything. Just put something over the bulb.
