It's aS NON-interference as it gets. I'm not even sure the pistons move.

There are topics about this in other threads, some say it is some say it isn't, I don't know personally. But apparently damage has occurred so I'm not sure.

depends on your luck and what rpm you were at when the chain broke.
mine was at 2k or less in my driveway with no load. and no bent valves.
others not so lucky.

all engines can drive a valve into a piston technically.

when I think of a interference engine I think only of a overhead cam engine.

all mazda b series engines are OHC and are NON-interferance motors.

My chain jumped while sitting at a stoplight, at idle and I bent all 4 intake valves, so I would have to say it IS an inteference motor.

I bought a truck with all 4 exhaust valves bent, tensioner fell apart and chain skipped a tooth. $150 later and I was good to go
