Re: Inline Fuel Pump Installation
They do work with flex, but you want to look at fuel pump with e85 capability, some aren't, some are meant for diesel, etc. |

Re: Inline Fuel Pump Installation
Nothing under the hood at all. Just make sure you remove the stock pump from the sending unit or the A1000 will have to do the work of sucking the fuel through the old pump by turning it.

Re: Inline Fuel Pump Installation
I just disassembled my stock assembly. If you want to retain your fuel gauge, you do need to slide that whole assembly that has the three springs back into the housing where that sock filter is right? So when I run the fuel line inside the tank it doesn't go to the bottom of the assembly like the brown one did, but outside of the assembly to the bottom of the tank? Meaning there is no use for that sock filter on the bottom of the assembly now? I'm just getting a little confused here...any answers would be great. What do you do with that little black hose that ran down to the sock filter? Just leave that stuff open? It went from the pump motor to that filter. I wish I could take pictures but those of you who have done it should know what I'm talking about.

Re: Inline Fuel Pump Installation
I just did this to my 1996 S-10 LS. I used the original grey wire from the old pump by just cutting it at the plug and pulling it to the new location on the frame rail. No splices PLUS it keeps the wire in the loom.

Re: Inline Fuel Pump Installation
I bypassed the sock filters and I probably shouldn't have, my line just runs to the bottom of the tank. I cut the gray wire at the plug as well, but I mounted my pump to the gas tank cross member. So I extended it the + about a foot and a half, and then I have fuel line running just up to there, and then back down to where I cut the steel line off about an inch and a half away from the fuel filter. Ground is bolted to where the ground for I think it's the filler neck is. I cut that little black hose out of the assembly though. How hard was it for you to push the stock assembly down far enough to seal that blue o-ring to get the snap ring back on the top of the assembly to secure it? It was a PITA for me........ |

Re: Inline Fuel Pump Installation
For anyone doing this, make sure for the inlet hose INSIDE of the tank you get submersible hose. It is pricey but you will need it. Also, plan on purchasing a new o-ring that seals the sending unit to the tank. I had problems with getting my stock one to seal because it expanded once removed. It was about $10 from the dealership.

Re: Inline Fuel Pump Installation
It should be noted that you will need to use submersible fuel hose in the tank. I did mine with regular FI hose and had to redo it 2 weeks later. The hose I used was "Gates" part # 27097 which is NAPA # H213 3/8" about a foot long.
Cost me $19.00 from NAPA. My old hose was soft. Don't forget the FI hose clamps. Regular hose clamps will chew up the hose. D |
