Home Stretch (almost there)

Alright i'm new to the forum so please from my understanding of certain things with my truck if i'm wrong please correct me

i bought a 94 s10 2.2 about 6 months ago with pretty much a beat motor the crank bearings were scored and it had no oil pressure what so ever

so i bought a 95 cavi motor and put it in ( i would have documented it but didnt really know about the forum sorry) so after pulling the motor out twice in a parkinglot of my apartment complex its in and cranking, the only noticeable thing different was the crank positioning sensor on the cavi motor, it runs directly into the wireing harness on the cavi with (3 pins instead of 2) and the s10 sensor runs to the coilpack. the houseing of the sensor is different as well its all brass as oppose to the s10 sensor being all plastic. that was my biggest problem and i had to take the motor back out and drop the oil pan to remove it. trying to remove it the first time i pulled the guts of the sensor out and not the houseing which was seezed into the block.

Anyway, i think the wire to that crank sensor is the issue now cause from my understanding is the crank positioning sensor controls the injectors. i thought it controled spark at first but i have spark, and with a little starter fluid it sputters like its gonna crank. i have fuel all the way to the regulator (i disconnected the fuel line just under the intake and it pumped just fine) so i think i'm heading in the right direction. i pulled one of the plugs and it wasnt soaked with fuel like it should have been. i also disconnected the ECU for a couple min inbetween cranks hopeing it might reset.

I read on here to disconnect the MAP and try cranking again so i'm gonna try that in a few min.

Basicly my questions are
1. is the wrie going from the crank positioning sensor to the coilpack expensive and whats the accual name of it (so the guy at the dealer/parts store doesnt take up 2 hours of my life i'll never get back)
2. is there anything else that controls the injectors that might be an issue
3. is there any way to check for fuel from the regulator to the injectors?
4. did i even post this in the right section?

Thanks guys
Chris

Re: Home Stretch (almost there)

Hey guys nevermind the last post after a little rewireing of the crank sensor it started right up, after smokeing out the whole complex to

only other question when i turn the key to get everything on the oil pressure gauge pegs out, which leads me to believe its not the pressure but just the gauge, is this common on s10's or should i be worried

( i took the valve cover off and its getting oil to the top of the motor as well)

I'll get some pics up here soon, she's nothing special......yet!

hmm yea the guages arent meant to eb acurate, when u say peg does ti peg to the low side or high side? mine stays at 60-70 psi while the oild cold (doesnt flux with rpm so prolyl sensors dirty) but once the oils warm it moves and is normal

Did the cavi. have an actual oil press gauge or did it only have an idiot light, difference being: an idiot light uses a oil pressure switch ( on/off ) and a gauge uses a oil pressure sending unit ( varies the resistance ).

Re: Home Stretch (almost there)

Swap the OP sensor out of your old block, previous poster on right track, idiot light switch type pressure sensor VS. S-10 variable resistance.
