Deleting A/C?
Ive been thinking about deleting the a/c on my truck. Id like the weight savings and cleaner engine bay, but im not sure if its really worth it. Its not hot here all the time, and I honestly work on the truck more than drive it. lol I just dont wanna do it and regret it. Anybody delete their a/c? Do you regret it or like it gone?

Re: Deleting A/C?
I never use my AC either, I always put the windows down. If you think you are going to sell it later on down the road, I would keep the AC, it makes the truck sell better. I would only get rid of the AC if I put a V8 in there.

Re: Deleting A/C?
if you plan on keeping this truck a long time i would just say delete it. i dont ever use mine kills gas and makes your truck run like shit so i cut it out completely.

Re: Deleting A/C?
i rarely used the a/c setting, i always had it on vent.
the only regrets is at nights like last night where it cools down the windows fog up pretty badly. it doesnt hurt when its hot out just have to roll the windows down! i removed the compressor and sold it and took the blower box out and tucked the wiring aside, made some patch panels and siliconed and riveted them to the firewall (for now) so theres no open holes. here soon ill be removing everything under the dash. you just gotta dress for the weather and have windows that work |

Re: Deleting A/C?
i took my a/c out when i did my flex pipe. i had to remove the compressor to get to the manifold, and i just never put it back. just bought a new belt. no ses light. and your truck probably runs cooler without the big condensor in front of the radiator

Re: Deleting A/C?
If you remove every AC component the wight savings is a little less then 35lb. just thought you might like to know.
I change my belt from AC to non AC every winter and get a 2 MPG increase. |

then again i just about deleted all that over rated crap the factory sends out that a truck doesnt need... abs, airbags, washer fluid, blower etc ![]() |

Re: Deleting A/C?
I added a/c to my truck, and I didn't see any negative effects from it, gas mileage is the same if I don't use it. If I do use it, mileage goes down about 2. Its up to you man whether or not you want a/c and need it. In Indiana, I got by without it, but in Texas, no way in hell.
