Chrome intakes install

In a few weeks im going to install my chrome intakes intake on my 98 2.2

Before I go ahead is there any pointers or things I should look out for before I do it?
I remember reading the other topics(from searching) and some of you guys were saying stuff about damaging the intake pipe because it got to hot. I don't know but any tips that would help me out is appreciated.

Re: Chrome intakes install

chromeintakes is usually pretty good about the sensor grommet, the only thing you may have to look out for is that if you have ac the chome intake comes very close to the ac comp. u may have to space it

Re: Chrome intakes install

i didnt really use it cause it was flimsy and looked like crap went bent, they include a little "L" bracket thing when i had mine, i bolted it to the top left bolt on the ac comp, this gave me the proper spacing for the intake and ac pulley. it will make more sense when u go to install your intake

Re: Chrome intakes install

throw away that flimsy 'bracket'
just go buy some stock aluminum and bend it and drill it to how you want

Re: Chrome intakes install

make sure after you install it that the actual pipe itself isnt touching anything that will damage it..or it will vibrate a hole in the pipe

Re: Chrome intakes install

I have my bracket mounted to my fan shroud. My g/f turned my a/c on before I put the bracket on and chewed up the side a little.

Als, the o2 sensor grommet works alright, it just sucks trying to get the sensor inside of the grommet without pushing the grommet through the intake tube.

HAHA YES THEY DO!!! i did some more searches around ebay, and found the seller! its a new seller, but the intake is the same. looks like he changed names or something. the other one was for a "GMC SONOMA" which is the same as an s10 but now the site advertises them as for s10s since most people will search for S10.

the seller name is imperialautoshop. search his name in ebay, there you will find the intake.

if your lazy search 99-04 CHEVY S10 4CYL 2.2L HEAT SHIELD AIR INTAKE 02 03

or if your really lazy here is a link

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...m170232174123&

dont forget to use the "rate me" if this post helps you out .

ehh, yes and no. in my areas there is very deep water in some places so i didnt want to take a chance. it didnt take vary long to cut the floor mat to waterproof the intake but was worth the peace of mind.
