99 s10, 3"bd, tubular a-arms, 20's, stock throttle body. Everything mounted fine. Need to extend four wires and get a new throttle cable. Got the 36" lokar cable from summit. I cut it down, played with the overall length but everything works great! As for the air filter sensor, I stuck a resistor in it and taped it off, no check engine light.

Re: Cavalier Intake Swap How To:

So would the Venom intake manifold fit? Thats the only aftermarket manifold I know of that offers one for the Cavalier. Id rather do this mod for performance. But then again its $700+ for it....so more like no.

Re: Cavalier Intake Swap How To:

lol^ so does this intake mani work on 94-97 2.2L also? if it did that means we could run a bigger tb also along with the intake manifold...or is it not worth the swap for the gains you get?

Re: Cavalier Intake Swap How To:

no hp gains, just hood clearance for a body drop i believe...plus you can show off that valve cover.

Re: Cavalier Intake Swap How To:

its for 98+ 2.2L

It DOES NOT increase power. its good to use for turbo, supercharging application or JUST LOOK different, but it does clear more room under the hood as well, it would be a plus for intake being AWAY from header for more cooling compare to stock location

Re: Cavalier Intake Swap How To:

that looks pretty sweet. id like to that mod just to be different in my area. is there any clearance issues w/ the manifold and upper control arm? ive been thinking of ordering sd control arms and running 20s up front.

Any mods have to be made to the throttle body for this mod?

Re: Cavalier Intake Swap How To:

the 2.2L has no mass airflow sensor, The computer cannot automatically adjust fuel flow to be proportionate to added air volume. So without having the computer reprogrammed its not going to add hp. Like was said just for looks and hood clearance.

yup the fuel rail and injectors stay in the same place. I've got more pics of the engine in my thread, just check the signature

yes but i'm 99% sure that its the same thing as the s10. i'll measure the height of the "pendulum" or whatever its called and overall height from the valve cover tomorrow on a older cavalier

easier if you can give post link directly than people going through pages to find it

Re: Cavalier Intake Swap How To:

I don't recall, I had it on temporairly but a/c lines were already plugged, I think it'll still have clearance somewhat

Re: Cavalier Intake Swap How To:

it's not any lines that get in the way, it's the blower box. the heater only blower box doesn't have a radiator in the blower box for the cooling, its just the heater core inside.

with a/c, the blower box is bigger...and it sucks for be because the throttle body won't fit. the intake manifold fits just barely, but if i wanted to put the throttle body on it, theres no way. the throttle body's vacuum ports stick into towards the blower box, and theres no clearance as it is.

minimee99 says he used a resistor for the intake sensor...what kind of resistor? how many ohms, etc?

Is there really no way this would work on a 97? I keep just seeing 98+

No direct fit as i said three posts up.

I had about 1/4 inch of clearance between the manifold and the a/c blower box as it was without the throttle body...if you rev the motor, i'm pretty sure the motor/intake manifold is going to get pushed into the a/c blower box. So then you'll have more problems than you started with.

Also it's impossible to make a throttle body fit since the way it bolts to the intake. The vacuum lines poke towards the blower box, so it's impossible to bolt on.

Totally different intake setup, it would take A LOT of swapping to get it to work. you'd have to switch over some of the fuel delivery/fuel system, and some of the wiring. It would be more work than it's worth. And if you have a/c that's a headache...probably not going to fit

Re: Cavalier Intake Swap How To:

Won't fit due to flow port are different position than 98+ as well as the design.

that's the throttle cable that i got for my 2.2 when i was trying to move the throttle body to the cavalier one. it didn't work out for me as i have a/c so i never even used it, the whole setup is chillin in my shed. but i'd say it should work since the hookups are very similar, and it's like ten inches longer than the stock 2.2 cable
