Anything I should look for?

I went to a local dealer today and looked at a 2001 s10. Its had the 2.2l, 5spd. The truck had 79000 miles on it, and ran pretty good. Now I was just wondering, since this is the first truck that i'd have with a 4banger in it, what should I look for as far as possable problems, stuff like that. I know jack squat about the 4bangers since I always been a 4.3L guy. Anyways any help, and ill post a pic of the truck.

Re: Anything I should look for?

Personally I'd be wondering why the hell it has those ugly arse old camaro rims on it.

aside from overheating and blowing headgaskets as a result, it shouldnt be a problem.

Awsome, now a totaly cant wait to buy the truck..haha, i think I might look a little more, but so far it has been the only place to take me with no money down, nocredit, and no cosigner. See what happens, but yea thanks man.

Re: Anything I should look for?

The headgasket issue, if its blown will be very obvious in most cases. That truck doesnt look half bad honestly, so I'd at least look at it more and consider it if nothing else.

Also listen for the timing chain ticking once it warms up.

Re: Anything I should look for?

dont beat on these motors too hard haaha or youll blow a rod like me, but that was my own fault. only other thing i noticed was that a lot of 2.2s around me at least all seem to have a nosiy ass a/c compressor

Re: Anything I should look for?

the timing chain issue though is a VERY easy one if you've got mechanical inclination and some patience. its just time consuming more than complicated.

Re: Anything I should look for?

oh and i dig the rims but they would look alot better if the truck was lowered and i agree with those guys about the head gasket and timing chain issues. if u get it i recommend flushin the dexcool out of it if it's got it and replacing it with new antifreeze, get a 180 degree thermostat and a eletric fan. also with only 80,000 miles on the clock the timing chain should be ok but i suppose anythings possible besides that it looks and sounds like a clean ass truck, buy it lol

Re: Anything I should look for?

I don't mean to be off topic here but what kind of overheating are you talking to blow a head gasket? Like what temp do you need to be at for how long that it would blow a headgasket? Just curious
