Re: anybody that has the ebay CAI for 98+
The brackets are for custom bracing the intake, one guy pulled it off, i just threw it away. The tube goes to the thing behind the throttle body when your standing infront of yoru engine. This lets the valve cover breathe, getting rid of harmful fumes and keeping the oil clean. If you did your reading i shouldnt have to tell you this, but im on my second ebay intake because of this, make sure you take some wire, zip ties, anything and pull it away from yoru ac compressor, or when you turn it on, its gonna eat away at that aluminum tube. I clamped some wire in the hose clamp and ran it to a metal bracket under where the stock intake was to the left of the engine bay. Make sure wherever you tie it down to is metal, because i had it to that little sprout thing on my fan shrowed and now that little sprout is somewhere on i-40 when it broke off. hope this helps

Re: anybody that has the ebay CAI for 98+
if you brace it right it works fine, im using some thin picture wire, you cant see it and theres no rubbing. i wouldn't go back to stock tubing personally because i love the suction sound. i ran with the cone filter on stock tubing for a while.

Re: anybody that has the ebay CAI for 98+
im not 100% sure but i think someone was running a spacer with a K&N cold air as it goes over the compressor and not around it, but if your trying to save money, yeah i would buy some aluminum tubing and have it bent at your local shop to make your own.

Re: anybody that has the ebay CAI for 98+
ok s10jimmi after looking at your pics i have determined that they sent me the wrong length of tube that connects to the throttle body. yours is much longer than mine and is bent differently. thanks for the response.

Re: anybody that has the ebay CAI for 98+
its not bent 90*? cuz i had a problem with that too at first, with a little force though, it fit into the coupler on the throttle body and still cleared the compressor, the coupler on the throttle body wasnt on much so i had to clamp it tight

Re: anybody that has the ebay CAI for 98+
might want to shoot them an email with some pics of your intake. i know i had a hard time getting mine on but im pretty sure it was bent like 90 degrees. it looks like the vent spot for the vavle cover tube was in the wrong spot on there too. I had a hard time getting in contact with them so i hope you have better luck!

Hey dumb a$$ "inprogress10" you need to flip your pipe over in the pic you have the vent down toward the vavle cover you need to connect the other side to the valve cover witch will make the vent point up then it will be a 90 bend and will fit fine.

Re: anybody that has the ebay CAI for 98+
Eh well hes not the only dumb ass then, mine is currently upside down I guess. The vent points down to the valve cover. Oh well idc, I don't have ac so its not hitting anything and is plenty secure. Also I used the supplied metal brackets, It moves a little bit but seems more then secure. I believe the flex is just from the silicon couplers.

I was going to suggest maybe you have a throttle body spacer in there, I ran into that problem once and it took me so long to figure it out
