98-03 engine swap, how to tune out egr?

I've got a 98 2.2 and put an 03 engine in it. Now my SES light is on because of the newer engine not having EGR. Is there an easy way to lie to the ECU, like using resistors or something, to get the light to go out without having to spend $200 to get it tuned out? I'm trying to sell the truck and really don't want to dump any more money into it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

you shouldn't be selling it with the egr "tuned out" unless the person buying it knows that. i tuned out mine, but if the truck was sold, i'll turn it back on cause you would really screw someone over if they needed to get it emissions tested

I would definitely tell them that it had been tuned out. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think it would matter if it had been tuned out when they got it tested. As long as the SES light isn't on it should pass, right? The truck runs fine it's not like there's smoke rolling out the tailpipe. I've had people interested in it but nobody's gonna buy it with the light on like it is now. That's one thing I hate about forums, 95% of people want to put in there 2 cents or bash somebody or give their "opinion" but hardly anybody wants to help the person asking the question.

if they actually put the device on the tailpipe that measures exhaust, it could cause it to fail

ahhaha. who cares if the damn egr has been tuned out.

and im with the op. i have a 99 motor in my 98 truck, egr pigtail is just tucked away. i could swap back to the s10 intake (i have cavi intake now) and put egr back on, but there is no purpose for me.

for right now, i just deal with the light being on. maybe someone knows a way turn it off or something?

The newer trucks didn't come with the egr, so it shouldn't effect emissions.

OP, can't you just pick up a ecm from the newer style without the egr and swap it out? Most junkyards will let em go for 20ish dollars.

I've also swapped in a flex into a non flex truck. I'm dealing with the light for now, but i tried to build this

http://www.verboom.net/projects/spee...729/index.html

I didn't have any luck, but maybe i'm just an idiot. It's a GM type of car in England that they are using it on i'm pretty sure.
