Please define "checked battery and cables and alternator." Dim lights means a weak battery. Did you do a voltage test? Did you test the resistance in the battery cables? What voltage was the alternator putting out? Is there a draw on the system? (Do you have an amp?)

Re: 95 s-10 wont start
the problem was intermittent and would come on full power, and i'm talking the dash lights here, the heads lights are bright. and work i dont suspect the battery, i did do a volteage test on the battery , the truck isn't running at the moment so i couldn't get a voltage on the alt out put. i dont have an amp, though i not sure on the draw i have to get a tester.

Re: 95 s-10 wont start
so are you saying when you try to turn it over the lights dim? my starter had a bad spot in it and did that one time, i just kept turning the key over and over and it finally got past the bad spot in the starter and fired right up

Sounds like the starter, because Rocky road is correct on that 1! Replace it, with OEM AC-Delco starter!

Re: 95 s-10 wont start
hey thanks for the replies.
i don' t think that it's the starter either. it turns over fine. i had just stated that it died the (battery) from trying to start it. the lights interior work fine. as do the head lights. it read 11 to 12 volts when i try to start it. i was just checking for a draw on the charging system but i didn't detect one. i did turn the key a bunch and the dash lights don't seem to come on all the way . it did come on for one sec , the dash lights, and i had notice that the my turn signal was on also, i had not notice that it doesnt come on when it does this, i also for got to state that the voltage doesn't read anything. but when everything came on for that second it did read almost 14volts. does anybody know if their is a realy or could it be the computer, i had taken that out and check it over and looks alright no burn compents, i aslo tried tapping it to see if that helped. i have not checked that battery cable with an ohm meter, but i think they are alright , the radio interior and exterior lights work ,wipers ect. but not the turn signals? |
