2000 s10 2.2L won't shift when warm.

167,000 miles.
It shifts fine when cold, then when I warms up a few minutes later it won't want to shift into 4th. Any advice will be appreciated.
I just bought the truck and have a spare 4l60e if it comes down to that but I'm no transmission guy so I'm just looking for advice on what my approach should be on this one.

Is the fluid red and clean or dirty/gritty or burnt smelling?

Is there any leaks?

Any smoke or anything that might smell burned?

Nope, truck runs and drive great for the first 10-15 minutes then it won't want to shift into 4th, and acts like it's in neutral past about 2500 rpm in 3rd.

is your truck throwing any CEL codes? It could be your 4th/ od plate seals in the trans.

Look for code PO1870, worn valve body. Common on the 4L60E, guaranteed at that mileage.
