2000 2.2l sucking oil into air intake
i recently rebuilt my 2.2l in a 2000 s10. apparently, i didn't get a few things right -- it has developed a pinging in the lower end. it never had much oil pressure, and was using oil profusely, but not leaking much. when i took the air intake box (at the throttle body) off, i found it was full of oil! probably 1/2 cup or more. it was in the throttle body too. what could make it do this?
it could only come in through the pcv valve, right? if a cylinder had low compression (#2 was only 75lbs), could blowby force it into the air intake? is there any other way it could get in there? thanks. jt |

Re: 2000 2.2l sucking oil into air intake
my first thought is something is pressurizing the system and forcing the oil up there, but it sounds like you need to to a complete teardown and 100% proper rebuild. all new bearings, rings, a good hone on the cylinders, and a new oil pump.
Those should help at least with the issue you're experiencing. |
