Re: 2.2L Turbo Engine Build

results:
run 1.
good traction, turbo lag off the line.
hit rev limit or bogged shifting fist to second and second to third
2.194 60' 14.481 @97.97 mph
thats same as last year with a slower 60' and a faster mph

run 2
about the same. did a re-tune was running rich (same as last time)
still bogged on shifting. tried to launch on boost and lost traction.
3.078 60' 15.867 @98.49 mph

run 3
another tune still bogging on shifts
lag on launch
2.239 60' 14.567 @97.20

run 4
more of the same. another tune
2.309 60' 14.549 @98.70

run 5 still bogging
2.268 60' 14.604 @97.41

run six. 2400-2500 rpm launch (small lag)
another tune, might of popped once on a shift.
2.195 60' 14.164 @99.66

started to rain a bit and the lines were getting really long in the staging lanes so i decided to call it a day after run 6

Re: 2.2L Turbo Engine Build

well it looks like some more tunning is in order...your 60 foots arent amazing, i did better with my open 3.08.

you are the fastest 2.2 s-10 now though...

Re: 2.2L Turbo Engine Build

cant wait for the times with the tires.

w/ some more tuning and tires i'd say you'd be pushing high 12's.

my stock 2.2 has about the same 60' times. lol

I've done better 60's but if i launched on boost this year it would (did) break loose.

Re: 2.2L Turbo Engine Build

lots rerally depends on tune
if you have a good tune i'd say 10 is safe.
but too much timing or not enough fuel at that level will cause a problem

Re: 2.2L Turbo Engine Build

That trap is good for a 13 all day if you can get your launch right. I think a good set of tires ie: slicks and a good traction bar set up and you should be in the 1.9 60' range and easily break 13's. 12's are still a little far off but a mid 13 is definately possible!!

not at this altitude
stock dsm's do 15-16's
srt 4's are lucky to get a 14 anything
not to mention both run more boost that I currently do
the wrx (not stI) does 14.8-15.2 at this altitude

also consider my weight 3305 lbs with driver

not sure what the new turbo cobalt ss does but I know it runs more boost and makes less power

Re: 2.2L Turbo Engine Build

7-12
pueblo motor sports park
temp was about 100
R/T .162
60' 2.003
330 5.659
1/8 8.815
mph 76.95
1000 11.553
1/4 13.869
95.41 mph

1-2 and 2-3 it missfired like it did the first night
traction was good but i launched at 2300.
I didnt adjust my rear brakes enough to keep it from trying to spin on the line.

trans brake and line lock would be really nice right about now.

it has more in it but that was not a night to set records.
after that pass i had heat soak. then I was battling a head wind

edit jus saw the 13 second slip.

Get ur 60ft down to 1.8's or better

cs extreme i would concentrate on weigh reduction.
Roll pan or step shavers. Move the battery to the rear. remove spare everthing. Take out everything possible. Drivers manual, the 1lb of extra change, spare jack and tire, extra brackets under the hood on the tutu.

It took me over an hour but i removed the big steel bumpstops in the rear they weighed i think 6lbs each.
It want 12's u should be trapping over 105

Re: 2.2L Turbo Engine Build

i can forsee 12s, dont forget people, this is at milehigh drag track and still have lots to do to near perfection

cs, do you still have that DOT hose on front brake line? if so, you can replace it with dot stainless steel lines of same length, that'll help you out a bit

also, when does your track will close for the winter time?

12's will happen with not much work.
I'm still on low boost with my small turbo, no weight reduction has been done except for ac removal. I still have my system in it (2 10's amp and box)
I wanted to get to 13's in that form.
now the weight reduction begins

little better 60'
2.0 vs 2.1
missfired on each shift slowing acceleration
it would of trapped higher with a lower et if it didn't mess up.
it was also 15-20 degrees hotter effecting intercooler temp and timing
i.e. power output
also a different track

Re: 2.2L Turbo Engine Build

Its definately a solid 13 sec truck. But it will take some work to shave off another second. Like Meyers said above it will take a 105 trap to hit 12's. It doesnt seem like a lot but it is. With a better turbo, better tuning, and the suspension properly set up it is possible. Cant forget about the line lock either.
