Re: 2.2L Ecotec in 1st Gen(Near complete/pics)
ls2 is only 400 hp and also way heavier. it wouldnt take much to do a 400+ hp turbo eco rods, pistons, and a decent size turbo and its set. can't remember exact specs but gm had an old school hot rod doing 500+ on a mild build with E85. |

Re: 2.2L Ecotec in 1st Gen(Near complete/pics)
When i budget'd out my build, I was going for 500hp on a 2.2 eco. a gt35r, pistons, rods, headgasket was 3-4k.

i found another thread you made on another forum....it talkes about some electrical problems you had.....what was the deal with that?
so your using the stock t5 housing and just drilling it to work with stock clutch and flywheel? |

Re: 2.2L Ecotec in 1st Gen(Near complete/pics)
ya for the longest time once it wormed up it would idle wierd kinda up and down fast. i thought i had checked everything but this last weekend i had the intake off and i guess when i put it back on i must of pluged somthing in all the way that had been lose cuz it runs great now no problems. as for the clutch im gonna use a cavi flywheel and im hopeing the s10 cluch will bolt up. their almost the exact same, the only difference i know of is the cavi clutch disk is 8 7/8 in and the s10 one is 9. so maybe the s10 clutch and pressure plate will bolt to the flywheel but if not ill just use a cavi clutch, the input shafts are the same in the t5 as the cavi.

Re: 2.2L Ecotec in 1st Gen(Near complete/pics)
couldnt you just have flipped the intake arround so the TB was facing the front of the truck? i know that theese engines are not a standerd dizzy engine and what are you doing about that GHEY ASS oil filter setup they have on them engines? oh and are you going to put the engine cover back on it? cause it would look bad ass if you put the cover on it and painted on the cover or even got a sticker on it that said something like 83 2.2 ecotech
i would love to do somthing like this but with a fifties pickup and an engine and everything out of a BRAND NEW silverado i think that it would be bad ass to open the hood to see such a new engine and with the feul econimy on theese newer motors you can have the best of both worlds POWER AND FEUL SAVINGS as opposed to a 350 carbourated i give you an A+ for creativeness |

Re: 2.2L Ecotec in 1st Gen(Near complete/pics)
just remember that 1400 hp engine has a price tag over $70,000 i have an extra 2.0 LSJ from when I blew mine a while back and bought an extra, if i get bored, who knows i might drop that in there. Not sure if i wanna get into fabbing up mass parts just for a truck used to haul shit in though Last edited by selfinfliction : 10-03-2009 at 10:53 AM. |

i also read on another forum that the colorado 5-speed will bolt up to the eco.....these trans are a lot cheaper then buying a bell housing or a solstice trans

it has some taped holes in the side of the block so i just made your standerd rubber mount and then made some small links with hiems and used them as a front solid mount

Re: 2.2L Ecotec in 1st Gen(Near complete/pics)
I really like it. Not every motor swap has to be a v8. Especially for a bded cruiser a 4cylinder would be nice for gas mileage and reliability compared to an old carbed v8. With all of that weight reduction it should have plenty of power to drive comfortably. Props man I like the whole idea.

Re: 2.2L Ecotec in 1st Gen(Near complete/pics)
I wonder if the oil pan out of a 2.9l colorado would fit on the 2.2 eco tech motor. Might be a way of doing this conversion with out having to modify the motor crossmember.

Re: 2.2L Ecotec in 1st Gen(Near complete/pics)
Seeing as how the truck has been "lightened" substantially, I would assume that even with minor mods the truck would be decently quick. Do you know what the truck weighs right now? Like 2,000 lbs?..considering all the stuff that went bye bye.

I like your truck! Very creative I have a 330hp v8 and considering this option or a diesel, I realized a bagged carbed daily driver is cool but sucks on gas and I love things that are different good job!

Re: 2.2L Ecotec in 1st Gen(Near complete/pics)
what is it with you idiots and trying to bash him just because its not the normal run of the mill 350 swap? If anything this guy should get a pat on the back cause hes doing something different.
Go to a car show and see how many s10s with there buy every bolt in off the shelf v8 part's are there. Its ok though, Im sure there will probably be more people standing around the 2.2 s10 anyways. |
