need help fast
I was on my way home from a late nite. and my check engine light came on then went off about 5 minutes later. then all of a sudden my truck started to like studder when i was drivin. Then it stopped, When i stoped at the stop sign the idle was real weird and eratic. any help on this would be awesome since this is my DD.

Re: need help fast
it could be your transmission if it happens when you start at a stop sign... does it hapenn when you shift too? cause it could be your clutch that needs to be changed

Re: need help fast
code? and it will just do it sometimes. i drove it last nite and it didnt do it. so i dont know. i know its not the clutch. I will be drivin and my check engine light will just come on and then it will start to hesitate. but it only does it for about 20 seconds then its fine again. Could it be fuel filter?

Re: need help fast
could be the o2 sensor, its a cheap fix and worth it to try. i dont thing the fuel filter would throw the ses light. most auto stores will plug in a code reader for free so that would be another option, even if the ses light isnt on it should have the code stored. gotta love the tbi

Re: need help fast
My truck did something VERY similar (sounds alike ne way)
Sometimes in the am when I first started it , it would idle REALLY high an then when I would come to a stop I would have to keep my foot on the gas or it would die , some to fine out it injector wires were chefed(sp) an pretty much making the injector drip all night long or cause it to stay open when it shouldnt have been .. Worth a shot to look at it . |

Re: need help fast
Put a small piece of wire between the upper 2 right terminals on the connector under the steering column. Turn igntion on. You will get a single flash, pause, double flash, pause, repeat 2x more, then any codes will blink out first digit of code flashed out, pause second digit flashed out (will flash codes 3x before moving on to the next code - it will repeat the 12 when finished.)

Re: need help fast
bro, first check for a loose wire at the ecm. its not as hard as it sounds make sure all the push pins are all the way in then switch the ecm. its not hard and pretty cheap for your year car, dont buy a new one, just catch one at a boneyard. spend a day and get at least one ecm but grab as many chips as you can from the inside of the ecm's as you can. switch 'em out. you should be straight.

Skin, any updates? Codes?
Dont install used parts when you dont know what the problem is first..... You could make the problem worse. |

Re: need help fast
dealer charged me $800 to diagnose the same problem. it was a loose wire to the ecm. wish i still ahd the paperwork. it listed the exact wire. it was just going into the plug in the ecm. yeah, the dealer bent me over on that one. from then on i just plug and played my own parts. the truck is tricked and mint to this day. i wouldn't go using a used thermostat. but sensors, for sure. if it gets worse put the original back on. what do you have to lose? $5 bucks at the boneyard? or $70 at the dealer or aftermarket. thats why i always grab 3 or 4. chances are one of the ones you grab wont work but the others will. how was the truck running before this? what other parts have been replaced?
