2.5l help

i have a 1988 s15 std cab short bed i put my motor on craigslist for sell cause my trucks getting small blocked well a guy called me last night wanting to buy it but he wants to know what the code on the block is so my question is where can i find this code or number obviously on the block but were at ive looked all over the driver side and cant find it does anyone know the exact location? any help is appreciated thanks in advance

I think he wants to know whether it's an "A" code or an "E" code duke.........look at the vin number. I don't recall off hand where the letter should be; but you'll see either one. I'm pretty sure you have an "E" code if the engine was the original one to your '88. "A" codes were late '91 to '93 I believe.

i asked him what he meant he said that there should be a 8+ didget number on the driver side on the block he needs the last 3 didgets

i found on the block were it says 88 and it says 2.5 GM and there was a big L on it as well but not finding the 8 digit number he wants he said something about the last three being 331 and there were a couple other ones but im lost

he said there should be a 8+ digit number on the driver side of the block and he needs the last 3 numbers he said one hes looking for is 311 and there was like 3 other codes but cant remember them im lost as to what hes talking about.. Also whats a good asking price for a 2.5l out of a s15 it runs and drives just rough it sat for about 3 years i got it and now ive got it running and it drives its just rough??

Probably wants a particular casting of the block, hence wanting the 311 number..... good luck.

I'd tell him to just come look at the damn thing....he already knows what year it is! LOL! I haven't looked my block over well enough to direct you to the casting numbers. I've seen a couple S10 2.5's on Craig's List recently..........asking price was right around $200.00.

i put mine on for 250 cause i didnt know what it was for sure worth he offered me 100 bucks i think my bottom will be 175ish or so thanks for your help
