It'll bolt to both a small block & a big block. IDK how long it will live, maybe indefinitly, depends on how powerful your smallblock is.

2 of my friends have swaps done, 5.3L cammed, tuned and a LS2 with alot of work done to it...and all they did was increase the shift pressures and they've both held up for 2 years now...i did the same and havent had ANY slipping or any problems what so ever.

you can use it, but i would buy some better internals for it before you do, especially if you plan to beat the truck... and who with a v8 s10 doesnt....

well good luck with that, my 383 so far has eaten 2 TH350's and those are typically stronger than whats behind the 4.3
and btw, a shift kit is harder on the tranny than stock, it shortens its lifespan, not lengthens it |

Re: Will my 4.3L transmission bolt up to a 350 ???
the transmission is a 4L60E, it is basically the same transmission as 700r4 except it is electronically controlled. the 4L60E has a design flaw internally, it has a grounding problem and does not stand up to horsepower very well. i know this because my dad, brother and, i have pulled 7 or 8 of them out of my dads caprice, it has a LT1 in it. the transmission shop we now use has one man that rebuilds these transmissions. i would advise having the transmission rebuilt if it is going to have that much horsepower in front of it.

its not really the hp that crushes these trannies, it is more RPM's they are only designes for 6250 or so. If you are planning to turn your 350 to 7k or so than you will need better internals.

Re: Will my 4.3L transmission bolt up to a 350 ???
I never heard that. The input shaft or sun shell can break from high RPM? How? They aren't balanced? The only reason to keep spinning to 7K is if your power is still climbing, so in that case more RPM = more power.

Re: Will my 4.3L transmission bolt up to a 350 ???
im not really buying the rpm thing either... im sure it has something to do with wear, but as far as breaking internals, that honor goes to power and torque
like i said, my 383 has been through a couple th350's, and it rarely sees more than 5500 rpm, doesnt need to, all the power is down low Last edited by Maverick2664 : 10-23-2009 at 12:32 PM. |
