is it absolutely necessary to replace the radiator or can is just frowned upon? is it clearance issues, cooling capabilities, etc. thanks.

Re: why couldn't i just use my stock radiator?

The 4.3 radiator in GOOD shape will cool decently. I'm running my stock radiator on my L31 swap(for now) just to save a few bucks and get it moving.

Re: why couldn't i just use my stock radiator?

mine stays cool...i have a vortec 350, and just moved the stock rad up and got a 160 t-stat...i also have electric fans from a 99 intrepid and they do wonders, if their on full time the truck doesnt even reach opperating temp if its idling, found that out when i had them hook up to a toggle switch when i was testing them lol

Re: why couldn't i just use my stock radiator?

if its a 4.3, you can use it as long as you dont beat the v8 too hard, many people around here still use theirs, but if its anything else then you need to change it, because they wont be able to cool it

Yeah 4.3 rad. will cool it pretty good in florida heat in the middle of the day,but it also depends on your fan setup.

Re: why couldn't i just use my stock radiator?

You don't need a 4.3 radiator but more surface area = more air to go through the radiator and cool the hot coolant.

Re: why couldn't i just use my stock radiator?

i bought a brand new corvette radiator and when i cut my radiator support out to slide it in i kinda almost flatten the top three layers of my radiator.

i hope it still cools cuz that thing was expensive.

what lower hose are you guys using with the vette radiators
