Who actually has a V-8
I am new to this site and after reading some of the posts and stuff it seems to me that some of these people have NO clue how involved a v-8 swap is, you just think it is like changing a spark plug or something?
And how many of you don't have a V-8 and say you do? I talked to some of you anf you have no Idea what a flywheel is, I even asked one of you what tranny you used, and you said "the stock 4cyl" then I asked how you did it, did you beef it up and change the bellhousing, you said "whats a bellhousing". And if you did yourself you would know of the adapters for the motor mounts, and you told me that it bolted up to the stock mounts. If you are gonna lie get your sh!t straight. I have a Vortec 350 in my ZR2 and it was a pain in the ass, and you guys make me sick tell people you have a lt1 or whatever you have(for those of you who do lie). A v-8 swap is not a diffucult thing but more of a knowledge thing to get it done. My truck is one of the hardest s-10 to get a v-8 into so I take great pride in my swap, it just pisses me of to have liars around here. Last edited by pkoerbitz : 11-13-2002 at 10:20 AM. |

I had a 1985 that I purchased with a 327 and turbo 350 tranny in it. The truck needed a lot of work and when we were done with it looked like it was meant to be there (lots of wiring and overall cleaning).
My dad and I just finished putting a carbed 355 with a turbo 350 tranny in our 1994 Extended Cab. We converted it from a V-6 and redid the crossmember, fuel tank and lines, gauges, did our own custom exhaust, lowered it and all the other fun stuff you get to deal when when doing a conversion. |

I have a 305 with 700r4 tranny...click the banner in my sig to see all the pics.
Most others that DO post that they have V-8 really do...alot of others post questions about how to swap, stuff to get, etc because they don't know anything about it. Now if someone is telling a lie about having one, well then , and I say post a pic to prove it.Also, check this thread for more V-8 pics... http://www.s10forum.com/forum/showth...threadid=13272 Last edited by webgator : 11-13-2002 at 01:32 PM. |

I am currently replacing my old 350 with a new one. I never used swap kits when i did mine there was no kits avail. i had to take the 2.8 mounts out and weld new custom mounts in that use the moroso solid mounts. took two days of tack welding and cutting off to get it right. I use a BOP 400 tranny with the adapter plate. also a pain due to the tall ears on top of the tranny. my buddy's truck is using a motor plate " also custom built" to get his in. it was not easy but the more you do the hard way the faster it goes when these kits are avail. if you wanna see my truck " man it is ugly right now" go here http://www.geocities.com/aarconceptz/
mine is larry's and the other s10 is john. our pro street s10 will soon have pics up for it. also we have a message board up and trying to get it off the ground so post up if ya want. i go by slos10 say hey |

yes, what burns my butt though is that I have been useing this set-up for years (B&M cooler and a spal fan) and now b&M has them on the market! I welded a fitting in the pan and put a sending unit in ,and it cuts the fan on and off automatically.

The bowtie is worth at least 5 because its covering an unsightly hole that would have cost me a minimum of 10,the real power comes from the chrome acorn nuts on the breather and the arp valve cover studs. The sticker on the master cylinder is the manufactuers tag and it knocks about 10 feet off my stoppin times(lol).I know the green hose that goes to the carb means buisiness though. What kind of shot are you givin that thing anyway?

bough mine with the motor in but running like shit. had to pull motor and redo heads and replace oil pan and rear main seal. also changed exhaust, intake, carb, rearend, radiator, cam, distributor, and a few other goodies. motor is a 76 350 out of a camaro that's never been bored out. couldn't believe it ran low 14's on a junkyard engine w/o slicks. imagine what a real engine would do. BTW elec87, I think I've seen your truck at cordova, nice ride.

dude, don't be knockin on this site, i didn't purchase the JTR manual and i still swaped my 2.5 for a carbed 350/700r4, all by this site and reading and a little button that says SEARCH i succesfully swapped a motor, my first motor, i was and still am broke but somehow with all the shortcuts this website offers i swapped my motor no problem, still not done but right now its common motor procedures to get it moving
