What do I need?
Whats up! Im doing a carburated V-8 swap in a 98 s-10. I Believe I have the correct headers for the swap but theres no part # or Manufacture on them. I need to know if stock 4.3 frame mounts will work and what motor mounts I would need if not the stock 4.3? Also what oil pan I should use with this?

www.s10v8.com
www.jagsthatrun.com i know they have mounts, and radiators and what not. not sure about the oil pan, you might have to get your driveshaft shortened. need a tranny too. |

Re: What do I need?
I'm not sure yet. What tranny would you recommend for a highway driven truck from what I understand my truck has 3.73 gears which I know is kinda short for a turbo 350 or 400. But i've heard alot of bad things bout a 700R4 not holding up but it will be a stock small block.

Re: What do I need?
if its stock a 700r4 should be just fine, as long as you dont drive the piss out of it
id stay away from a 350 or 400 if you plan on driving highway. |

Re: What do I need?
a th-350 is a 3 speed transmission. That means no overdrive, where as a 700r4 is a 4 speed |

Re: What do I need?
No prob! So is a 700 r4 a 4 speed or a 3 speed overdrive? Or would a 4l60 be a better choice cause I plan on building the 350 a lil but not at first but I also don't wanna buy a 700 r4 then turn around in a year or so and buy something diff. and is the 4l60 an computer controlled tranny or only the 4l60e?

Re: What do I need?
700r4 has 4 gears and lockup (if used)
If you're really going carbed I'd go with 700r4. You can however run the 4l60E if you want be the trans has to be computer controlled. |
