v8 exhaust

im just wondering what kind of exhaust everyone is running with there v8.....i had flowmasters on my last setup but i was thinking of doing the SLP Loudmouth mufflers and make my own pipes...also what size pipes are you using??

I have't put my V8 in yet, but I will be running true duals with 2.5" piping and delta 40 series flows. They will be turned down under the cab or maybe right after the bed. Good luck with the exhaust and the 400sbc.

I have 2.5" duals with an x-pipe and tail pipes out the rear. It sounds great, but after 7 years I wnt something else.
I think I am going to use the Dynomaxx Bullets.
I have had a few sets installed on some LS1's that I have built, and they sound great on em.

yeah it should be fun when its together finally...i got lucky and found a narrowed 9inch ready to bolt in complete locally for a few hundreed...so i picked it up and bolted it right in....except needed a new driveshaft yoke...but now its got a 4inch tube shaft

i dunno...i just ordered some flowmaster 40 series mufflers and i'm using 2.5 piping. don't know what tips to get, but i hope the flowmasters sound good.

I've got 1992 s-10 with a bored 305. Had flowmaster 40 series put on not cats. I wanted 2.5 inch pipe but the guy at the muffler shop couldn't get it to fit. Went with 2 inch off the motor and then 2-1/4 straight out the back as soon as he could get enough room. It sounds really good and isn't too loud in the cab.

I have a MagnaFlow 3" inlet/3"oultet, 3" cat., w/ a 2.5" y-pipe, its quiet at cruising speed and idle, but when I get into it a little bit, its got a nice tone to it.

Need replacement parking brake cables?

Need Customized parking brake cables for a rear end or brake conversion?

2.5" piping to a dual in and dual out magnaflow. Sounds awesome i love it. Dumps in front of the tire also. Was going to run it under the rear axle but the guy at the muffler shop did a pretty sweet set up.

I have had a few sets installed on some LS1's that I have built, and they sound great on em.

I would recommend a dynomax ultra flow. You can get them oval or round and both are a straight through design and flow lots of air. I have a 3 inch system with 8 in round ultra flows.
At idle they sound mean as hell. During a cruise they still sound mean but they dont let the noise carry out so far. Helps keep the cops off ya a little. The bullets are noisey for long distance away and dont always give that much more flow at the same diameter. A buddy of mine had bullets on his car, we could here him get on it 2 miles away.

from my experiance, i would suggest you at least dump the exhaust out the sides. it resonates pretty hard core under the bed. i had a flowmaster that dumped right after the muffler and i gat ticketed for the noise level. i ran a tail pipe out the side in front of the tire, (illegal in WI) and went back to the same cop who ticketed me, and he signed off on it. maybe he just had a bad day, but it wall about 60% quieter with the tail pipe. on the other hand, if you read the good info on flowmasters web site, they recomend a minimum of 18 inches of tail pipe behind the muffler for proper scavenging.

I'm running Hooker Super Comp headers to dual 2.5" pipes into dual Flowmasters with the pipes ending about a foot before the roll pan, under the bed. Very loud. Neighbors hate it. Sounds perfect to me.

I am running hedmen long tubed with 2.5" true dual all the way out the back with 2 flowmaster hushpower 2 mufflers. Is pretty quit at idle and in the cab, but the people I raced said it was load as hell when I went by them

I am running some cheep ass conversion headers,(replacing soon) into a full 3in with dual CATS(now hollow that of course is a story in itself)then into an X Pipe then all the way back in to two 19inx5in Super Trapps with 12 Discs and no cap on each side. LOUD AS HELL... get asked if it's a big block alot, and got confused with a diesel several times(by sound not sight) of couse all of that is changing as soon as my fuel cell gets mounted...

White '84 S-10 Floor Cought Fire, 500$ later I am getting everything done over the winter and saying "F" it to the Blazer and maro for now. One Done veichle beats 3 half done... gotta finish getting my expensive top end(Victor Jr's, Shaft mount rockers, Mech. Roller Lifters) get my 4.11's installed, and my new Roll cage installed, et.

My first setup was 1.5" Sanderson headers with 2.5" with flowmasters that went all the way out the back. I liked it a lot

My second setup was 1 5/8" Sanderson headers with 3" Edelbrock mufflers that dumped at the axle. It was cool at first, but it was so loud people thought I was going full throttle at 2500 RPM

My third setup was 1 3/4" Sanderson headers with 3" Flowmaster 70 series(Big Block II) that dumped at the axle. I paid a lot of money to quiet it down, and it was the best thing I ever did. I could rip around town and not tick off every person in a 3-5 block radius. I might have lost 5-10hp, but the truck became twice the fun!!!! Id do it again anyday.

Moral of the story, take some extra time and try to get it right the first time. If you add up how much I spent on my three setups(above) I could have either saved $1500, had a system made of stainless, or had one entirely jet-hot coated.

This is my Stainless Steel, Mandrel bent, tig welded exhaust system. It comes off of headman swap headers into the bassani x-pipe, then to the Mac Performance mufflers. It sounds so fukin good. I let my buddy drive it the other night so I could hear it. It sounded so good and loud I almost creamed myself

Looks awesome. On the price part I think I spent over 2000$ on 1 system... all stainless only thing I didn't buy at that was headers... now I am redoing the whole damn system, it is way too loud, and I just had my floor replaces where the collocter flange was smashing into it and purining it up completely. I of cousre found this out when I was on the highway doing about 80 and 3-4 miles from an exit, and I see the rubber matt smoldering.

my exhaust is sweet. it sounds bad ass. i love the way it sounds but its all shitty bends and has hedmans on it (WORST HEADER EVER FOR S10s) i constantly have small leaks at the head. i have 2.5in through 2 40 series NON delta flow out the back over the axle. its loud as hell and has a sweet tone. my cam works well with it. my next set up will be completly mandrel bent and droped right before the axle.

hey formula (and anyone else too), you got any pics of your exhaust? i have yet to see any pics of a nice setup on a BLAZER. i was thinking 1-5/8" Sandersons, 2-1/2" x pipe, SLP Loudmouths, and then exiting aft of the tires, on each side. just not really sure on how to run it. any pics would be great.

didnt know everyone was running x pipes....are they custom made or is it a universal xpipe??? i wanted to run true duals again but since im running stock gas tank i gotta keep it to the pass side...i did wanna drop the pipes run in front of the tires so when i do big burnouts the exhaust would blow the smoke up

My X-pipe is custom, it sits after the gas tank and the exhaust splits from there out to either side and the mufflers(supertrapps are essentially muffler/tip all in one) But I plan to switch to running it straight down both sides as soon as my cell is installed next week, and I wanna use a Tranny X-Member Like the one in the Afterhours S-10, If AVTekk reads this or anyone that knows what he used to suspend the pipe in X-Member reads this can you tell me and possibly give me some idease on how you did up that exhaust?

Sweetest sound I've ever heard is on my '79 Z-28 land speed car. 3" with x pipe running through Borla XR-1's. Once you go Borla you'll wonder why you ever considered flowmasters.

I think I would stay away from the loadmouth from SLP, I heard the new kit on a stang and from a distance I thought it was a built import, it sounded shitty to me. I would stay with the old reliable flomaster.

i was only thinking loudmouth because of their small diameter. i would need round ones i think to run them down the same side, as i can't turn the mufflers sideways. i guess i might just end up buying the ATR 3" exhaust for the Typhoon. i can't see the 2.5" duals under there with enough clearance all around.

I bought the truck with Heddman heqaders and a Y-pipe into a dynomax muffler. I think i'm just going to make it a straight pipes with no muffler.
