thermostat issue???

My engine tempature is going back and forth on me and my heater too. Needle jumps around alot. At a stop at idle blows warm air, driving down the road blows cold air. Could it be that my thromostat is stuck open and is allowing flow thorough the radiator and cooling it before it reaches my heater core?

Need to figure out this soon, its snowing here in Northern Wisconsin....
