Re: The 5.3L S-10 goes 11.56@120.38MPH
Very nice gains on the nitrous!! 13 mph is killer for a 125 progressive shot. Cam must really like the spray!! Id love to see that kinda gain on a 125 shot. Guess time will tell.
Id say theres more left in it going off your mph. Almost time for a roll bar!!! |

The 5.3l should be a LM4 if I remember right. LS1 is 5.7l.
I should swap mine for an 8. Looks good Black X. |

The LM4 is the typical Iron block, I think the L33 is the aluminum. You can get the aluminum blocks on ebay, new, for ~$500 shipped

I got the extended cab, I'd like to get it as light as I can. I kinda like the "sleepy" theme I got going with my truck right now. Still, if'n I found a ragin deal on an iron block setup, it'd be hard to pass up.

Makes me want a 5.3 over a full size 5.7. Are you ever going to put on a set of 6.0 heads?

6.0 heads would slow him down.... less compression, he already only has 9.5:1, it would drop him to 8.5:1

Really excited to do this swap...
is that really a vette engine?? wondering if I can get the same power from a 5.3 out of a truck (01 and up) motor with some internal work. |

So this is just a 5.3L engine out of a silverado? They gotta be easy to come by, right? I think I heard once that this is the easiest V-8 swap for our truck if we already have the V-6. Is this true?

Re: The 5.3L S-10 goes 11.56@120.38MPH
Do you have to custom make engine mounts? and what tranny do you use? do all your stock gauges work still or do you need to use all autometer style gauges? do you need a new rear end?My cousin wants to find a wrecked Z06 and drop it in my truck one day when I get the money. He is a mechanic and he thinks he can do it as long as i have the money, but he has never done any type of engine swap before. I dunno im a noobie to engine swaps, if i do one ever it will be the last big thing i do to my truck.

nope you can find engine mounts for it. just get a set that will mount a LS1 into your truck. i can't remember where to get em. If your truck is a 4.3 your tranny will work. Your stock guages will not work. with you having a second gen your stock rear end will be fine for a stock 5.3

Might as well just get an LS1. They're gonna want a ton of money for the lS6 from a zo6 vette, and you wont be able to use the tranny without very extensive truck modifications.

Wondering if the ET times will be roughly the same with a NV3500 tranny???
3.08 rear end in the truck. I drive truck for a living, so I'm pretty smooth at banging gears, and I have some pretty good clutch control from doing what I do. I'd probably launch in 2nd anyways lol |

Re: The 5.3L S-10 goes 11.56@120.38MPH
I keep hearing the NV3500 is tough enough for it.
I'm not going to pound this tranny all the time. No slicks going on the rear, but I am getting some wide rubber for it. All this truck for is to have a fun to drive "did that truck really do that?" kind of thing. the odd track day. I'm keeping the standard in the truck. I love it that way, and I can't find a tranny that will be in my price range that is standard. |

what tranny did he use in this truck?
decided the extra $200 is worth not breaking the NV3500 and being stranded |

A must is current performance wiring harness about $750 I believe.
Must cut the crossmember and if smart fab up some supports to beef it up again. Another thing if you want a/c got to make a notch into your frame and fender to fit. |

Re: The 5.3L S-10 goes 11.56@120.38MPH
current performance harness is aroud $400...
And I sure havent' heard anything about notching and grinding... the v-8 is just a bit longer than the 4.3 so I doubt there is any notching and grinding going on here. Decided I'm running the auto tranny that comes with the new engine, when the truck goes away this summer, and I rip the whole thing apart, I'll put the performance goodies into the motor and tranny, maybe fab up a better rear suspension |

their site said 375 bucks... but maybe you did it in a different way.
I'm just getting it so the ECM hooks into the other computer so it all works together, not a complete re-wiring job |
