Re: stock t5
It depends on the engine in the truck. I believe the four cylinder and 60 degree V-6 have different trans bolt patterns than the 4.3 and because the 4.3 is basicly the same as a 5.7 (350) just with 2 less cylinders if you have the 4.3 the trans should bolt up the same. Im not positive if the bolt pattern from a 5.7 2 piece rear seal and a 5.7 one piece rear seal are the same on the crank. Depending on age of truck, engine and the age of the motor the trans should work. Normaly people that swap v-8s they use the same year 5.7 for the best fit (carb or fuel injection) because the more years that seperate the motor from the truck the less things they will have in common. mostly brackets, emmisions, fuel systems, and other removable parts. Plus if your keeping the fuel system an engine from the same year is a fairly easy swap compared to other swaps.
I have heard mixed reviews on keeping the stock trans. Some people say it wont handle the power of an 8 and others say it works just fine, guess it depends on how your going to use it/ abuse it. |

Re: stock t5
Well I looked up the difference between the two piece and one piece (regarding the trans anyways) and the bolt pattern for the engine to trans bolts are the same but the crank to flexplate/flywheel bolt patterns are different. Now im not positive if they make a flywheel for both versions of the 350 that will bolt up to the trans. Personally I would find a 350 from the same year to make the swap as easy as possible. 4.3 and 5.7 of the same year have very little differences externally.
