Someone take a look at this setup: 2.8 to 305 w/ 4.3 parts blazer

Here's the game plan: put a 305/700r4 in my previously 2.8/now-a-3.4 s10. I've got a 4.3l vortec blazer I'll be robbing a ton of parts from.

I plan to pull everything then put the 700r4 from the v8 in... hoping the mounts are the same. I'll bang the shit outa the tranny tunnel if I gotta, then install longblock sbc. Then do the headers/exhaust and carb.

Here's the question: will the 4.3 vortec accessories bolt up to the SBC? I'll make custom p/s pipes, alt. wires, A/C control, what else?

Here's the truck's first engine swap (to 3.4):

After (rustolium paint)

It's now blue with a little lift I'll get some pics later. Thanks for any advice.

Also will http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/685567727.html work with my 1980 block? Could I then run my 2.8 TBI system with 305 injectors?

truck looks good, it doesnt look like you masked the liscense plate off. From what I know all the accesseries should bolt right up from a 4.3 to sbc. Not sure on the tbi from a 2.8, but maybe from a 4.3.

cool this will suck if the 4.3 accessories dont work on the sbc. It's a '80 with a th700r4. I'm trying to decide if my flywheel is bent from transport, but damn I can't tell!

Also I know I missed the licensplate, LOL! I removed the lights (tail, head) taped the door handles and rolled down the windows and started painting.

you might be able to get see if its bent with a long strait edge, have you decided on the fuel system yet. If I were you i would look for a complete tpi setup.

Can I run a complete TPI system? It's an 80s engine, is that possible? I do have a TBI system... would need to get accessories though (if my vortec ones wont work).

Can I run a TBI on a carburetor manifold? TBI intake won't bolt up to a carburetor engine.

Here's another picture of how the rustolieum comes out. Any imperfections you see are either the dirt I painted over, a bug that died on it, or my lazyness. This is just one fat coat rolled on in <45 mins.

I have seen paint sprayed by a hvlp gun with more orange peel than that lol. Yeah you can buy complete tpi setups with everything you will need. Your acceserys should not have any problems with it. Since you have the earlier heads you will need the 86-87 tpi from a camaro, maybe even a 88, I am not sure what year they went to vortec heads. Look at thirdgen.org in the classifieds there is always a few systems for sale. I am not sure on the tbi, all the tbi intakes might be the later style intakes, once again not sure. good luck though!

well change of plan I got up real early today planning on thowin all new gaskets and pumps on the 305.... got the oil pan off and its ****ed. I dont think itll be worth to fix so I'm searchin Craigslist for teh cheapest 350 or HO 305 I can find today.

But on the upside theres a great chance I'll get a 350 from the get-go instead of swappin to one later

Okay well I'm going to pickup a $100 dollar 305 HO engine. It's a COMPLETE engine , and from a 86 van. According to my googling, this would make it a CPI . Now just gotta go get it at noon.

Should probably change the title so people know this is kinda a build thread.
