pro comp coil for my 350 SBC in my sonoma

so i'm gettin real close to having my motor swap done in my '96 sonoma. throwing in a 350 small block.anyways i bought a cheap Pro Comp coil off ebay:

we went to start the motor and it's not getting any spark. we took the coil back off and used a multi meter. both posts are ground. one should be hot but both are ground. didn't know if anyone ever seen this or knows what i'm talking about? it sounds like it should forget this cheap Pro Comp brand and move on to the better MSD brand. if i get a MSD coil, which model should I get? thanks!
