oil pressure sending unit?

I am trying to hook up the oil pressure gauge in my 97 sonoma to work with my 82 454. I had a random sending unit and I hooked it to my air compressor with 40 psi to it and hooked up the gauge and it only showed 20 on the gauge. Funny thing was the more psi I put to the sending unit the lower the gauge would go and the less psi the higher the gauge would go. Are the new model sending units work reverse of the older ones? Wanna find out before I dish out $30+ for a sending unit for the 97 and another $25 for the pigtail.

Re: oil pressure sending unit?

no one knows if a sending unit from another year that is just a one-wire unit will work on the 97 cab?
I don't need all the fuel pump safety stuff.

Re: oil pressure sending unit?

why don't you use the sending unit that originally came with the 97 sonoma?

Re: oil pressure sending unit?

I don't have the original one and napa wanted $38 and another $25 for the harness for it. Finally found the 97 sender on ebay for $10 and summit had the harness for $5.
