new here gas mileage for your carb v8s

alright well im looking to buy an s10 an drop a v8 in i dont want to mess with the whole wire harness an ecu bs. so i figure carbing it would be the best way. my questions are at this. how much does it normally run? what gas mileage are you getting with your carb motors? an difficulty of swap? right now i drive a ford f150 4.2 v6 i love the truck just no options for it cause its a v6. no ways to get real power an its an extended cab with a long bed so its just not what i want. so i found a s10 on craigs with a little 4 banger in it for a super cheap price its a 91 or 92. so im lookin at a bit of body work suspension interior wheels an tires an motor. so any sugestions any threads that would help or websites would be great. im new here sorry if this has been talked about. pm me if you would like or post here. thanks

nick

if you are looking to get good gas mileage make sure you have an automatic with overdrive or a t56.. if you got a plane jane th350 or 400. your screwed. If all depends on how you build it. gears, transmission, tire size it all plays a factor. I

yup, a th350 and a carb will get you less than 10 mpg unless the rearend is rediculously high geared, but wheres the fun in that... add an OD trans and youll see probably 15 or so, add fuel injection and youll see 20+

For 1200, make sure its not a cobbled up hack job. You dont want to be fixing someone elses mistakes.

I get about 13 or so with a TH350 with stock rear but I have 24" wheels that help out a little bit when cruising. The larger wheels drop the rpms a little bit.
