My 350 problem... please help.
I just bought an s-10 from a friend of mine with a 350 that was installed a few years back. The problem I am having is that the truck runs great in Park, very smooth idle, good throttle response, etc... but, as soon as I put it in gear it starts to run like shit. rough idle, sputtering, shakes, and stalls when more than light pressure is applied to the gas pedal. It is drivable but not reliable. The carb has recently been rebuilt, I replaced the fuel pump, cap and rotor, coil pack, plugs and wires. I've checked for vacuum leaks and found none and I've also adjusted the carb. and set the timing to just about every position possible. I've got it to run ok a few times but as soon as I come to a complete stop it goes back to crap, I just don't get it.
If anyone out there has any idea what might be causing this please tell me I'm running out of hair to pull out.Last edited by BlazeOne : 11-05-2009 at 04:00 PM. |

Re: My 350 problem... please help.
Do you have a stall converter? try bumping up your acceleration while in park or neutral IE if its ideling at 850 rpm in park bumo it to 950 or a 1000 rpm's then hop in the hot seat put her in gear and see if the idle in gear is desierable and it stays running. I believe this will take care of some of your problums until you can install a deacent stall converter. and i would almost be willing to bet it needs a converter.
