LT1 info with trans
I've been searching so long my eyes hurt now, lol. Anyhow, I have an 01 blazer xtreme and I'm wanting to swap in an LT1. I heard painless wiring makes a harness to easily plug and play with the motor to the computer? If this is true, someone have a part # or info on that?
Secondly, what trans is everyone using? I seen the 4L60e in some post but what are they using for the electronic shifting or is that built into the lt1 computers? Sorry if they seem like newbie questions. |

4l60E is computer controlled.
I've never used painless wiring products. Can't say for sure. |

Re: LT1 info with trans
go to currentperformance.com and they make you a plug and play wiring harness from scratch. They also will take the lt1 computer and reflash it for your application. And do yourself a favor and get a t56 sixspd trans with the motor if possilbe. Its alot of fun, and isnt that hard of a swap if you alreay have a manual trans in there. |

Re: LT1 info with trans
I would also say to go with CurrentPerformance. He's a fellow S10 guy like us and knows his LT1 wiring harnesses like the back of his hand. He'll get all the info he needs from you and make a harness that will suit ALL your needs. Skip Painless, while they're a great company, you'll NEVER get the support you'll get with Jared.
The 4L60E is computer controlled (4L60E = Electronic). Once you swap the engine and wiring harness with the computer all you have to do is plug in the tranny and it's good to go. It's still shifted like any other tranny with a cable from a floor or column shifter. It's just the shift PRESSURE and TIMING that's controlled by the PCM. Though I agree with Justin, get yourself a T56 and forget the damn auto tranny! |

T56 was fun in my 89, but eventually went to auto. Both are great choices, personal taste I suppose.

Re: LT1 info with trans
I'd love the 6 spd also. My friend has one in his s10 and it's crazy fun to drive. But my being auto anyway and have the full center console I don't wanna mess up the interior to place the shifter and than have to add a clutch. Too much work for my liking. But thanks for that website, I'm going to look him up now and see what he has on there

Re: LT1 info with trans
I was just looking through his website, looks like a good deal and very detailed on the harnesses. So in short, I need LT1 w/ 4l60E trans. Get the computer for my year motor & automatic than have him build the harness for what I want and I'm drop in and go correct?
