how much does s10 weigh

pretty straight forward......would really help with my cam and trans decision.

Its an 87 s10. Short bed, regular cab, was a 4 speed. ALL A/C equipment removed. I'm nowhere near a scale and i'm hoping a few of you V8 guys will know what they weight after the swap.

Re: how much does s10 weigh

I'm really wanting to use my powerglide but only if i can get the weight down. Where are some good places to remove excess weight on these trucks. I've already gotten all of the A/C stuff out...the bench seat is gone....that old carpet felt like it weighed a ton......where else?

Re: how much does s10 weigh

lose the inner fenderwells, remove all the things not necessary for the engine to run from the engine compartment, relocate the battery to the rear, get fiberglass body panels wherever possible(especially hood), get the heater box assembly out too(if possible) don't keep any of that emissions b.s. Pretty much what I've done, and I can't weigh much more than about 2500. I just don't have any glass parts yet. I also got rid of all the stock interior, and put in an aluminum dash with aftermarket gauges. But there's tradeoffs.

Re: how much does s10 weigh

could swiss cheese the core support/inner fenders to keep some support up there

I'd try losing the weight as far forward as possible myself to help the distribution

replace bumper with plastic bumper cover

5 S-10s and none of them fast

Re: how much does s10 weigh

All I've done is put in RCI (Summit) seats and the tailgate was a POS so I replaced with a tail-net. Truck came without AC or PB, still using a steel hood, inner fenders etc, and the motor has iron heads. It wouldn't take much to drop another 100-150#

spare parts...
