fuel gauge

when you guys did your swap how did you all keep your gauge mine has not worked since the swap and what i have is the fuel sender in the tank with the pump tooken out with a rubber hose run down threw there i still have the fuel wires connected on the sender / i took out the stock fuel filter and ran a hose and i put an inline filter on.. and i have a mechanical pump to pump the fuel but i still have not gauge the fuse is fine what can it be and what did you guys do

on my first generation blazer the plug coming from the fuel pump there was 2 wires one was power 2 the fuel pump and one was 2 the sending unit i cut the brown for power 2 the pump and left the pink one pluged up for the sending unit! Not sure if yours are color coded the same hope this helps.

on mine there was 2 purple wires for the flot reader and the pump there was a black one and a tanish one i cut both and took the pump out sinc i got a mechanical pump

not sure but the factory gauge may not work since u remove the pump. I left my pump in but cut power 2 it cuz i have a mechanical pump 2.

then what did you use for the fuel pick up if the pump does not work?

the mechanical pump pulls gas from the tank the gas flow right throw elec pump even though it's not workin.

hmm but i dont know what wire to cut the black wire or the tanish wire

the tanish wire the black wire is a ground.

well the thing is i already took the pump out cut the connector of the pump and now i just looked for it and cant find it and i cute the tube that connect to the pump so dont think i could salvage this back together can i?

i would either check a salvage yard or go with aftermarket fuel gauge.

if i go with an aftermarket fuel gauge and my fuel gauge does not work right now will the after market one work? and how would i get it to work? i will not care if i go with aftermarket as long as i can get my gauge to work

i found the connector with the 2 wires one is grey and one is black if i take the sender back out and put the pump back in since i cut the long wrinkle tube i can replace that with fuel hose and the little black tube i do not know what to do with that can i just leave it off

no they dont i just looked at summit and they are not included but did you see my last post i found the clip for the wires now if i do this and splice the wires back together and keep the grey wire cut will i get a fuel gauge?

Good solder job on the wire with a good jelly filled crimp over it. Your guage should work if the wires are still good under the rest of the car and dash.

An aftemarket one comes with a seperate sending unit. Going to the junkyard and finding a new top for that fuel tank isnt at all a bad idea. Going inside to tank to locate the rite wire and make sure you make everything continues to the guage float might be good too. A chevy still uses a 90ohm sending unit, I believe. (just in case you want to check float and make sure it works before putting tank back in?)

well i already have it all back together i will pull the bed again and test the ohms and see wht i got
