Fast Ext Cab Driveshafts

What's some of the fast 10sec and faster extended cab trucks doing for driveshafts? Also interested in ride height with the driveshaft as well as any mods needed if swapped to one-piece.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm on the stock DS with spicer u-joints. I have the motor for mid 11's and then mid 10's with a little juice. Just curious if anyone is using the stock 2-pc.

At least put in a driveshaft loop just incase it decides to let loose

Could you post up some pictures when you work on it? I'm lowered 4/5 and I am afraid it will take a lot of clearancing to work for me.

Re: Fast Ext Cab Driveshafts

i am using a 2 piece.....at first i used the stock front half and redid the back half to fit b/c i was using a 9inch rear...use heavy duty ujoints and put a new carrier bearing in......then i went to a 1piece alum. shaft....was alot lighter and helped alot....had to clearance the floor some....but it wasnt hard if you can weld....i got a tunnel kit from suicidedoors.com and cut it up.....its only needs from behind the seats where the tunnel hump stops and turns flat to the raised hump b4 the rear wall......but now i changed trans and the alum was too short and i went back to a 2pc......i had the stock front half retubed and lengthend with 1350 joints in the front half, and reused the back half that was already redone to fit with the 9inch....i can try to get some pics.....and mines street driven on slicks at all times....10s too

ill sell you my old 1piece alum. shaft i hada go back to a 2piece cuz my shaft would need to be too long to be a 1 piece with my drivetrain combo.... i will measure the length of it and let you know

Re: Fast Ext Cab Driveshafts

ya if you would get a measurement that'd be cool. but one of the nice things about the ford nine is its low pinion placement which for our situation is a blessing for the driveshaft angle to help compensate for the lowering.

lownslow. you make you a custom loop or bought one and made it fit?

it is 67 inches center to center with a spicer ujoint in front and a new yoke....it was made to fit with a 9" and t56, but that should work for a 700r4 and long th350.....its alum with the carbon fiber wrap

i had a custom made loop for it...as far as i know no one makes a loop for the large diameter alum. shaft

I'm using this with spicers, after my rear double Cardan went bad 2 times in under 2k miles I had to get rid of it and with my exhaust how it is there is no way I could have used a 1 piece shaft so this is what I have now.

Re: Fast Ext Cab Driveshafts

if you need a loop for a big shaft, chris alston had one that would clear a 6 in drive shaft. it requires welding, not a bolt in.
