Emissions Question

I have a few Q's about what I will need to do for my 5.7l Vortec swap into my 97 chev s10 that has the 2.2l in it

Do v8's run two O2 sensors on the manifolds one on each side? and wat all exactly else am i going to need to do other then egr valve and all that crap, i think thats mainly what I have left to figure out, other then finish putting the motor 2gethor and installing it in the truck

Re: Emissions Question

You'll need to get the PCM wiring schematic & determine if it will be looking for 2 O2 sensor inputs....you may also need cat efficiency monitors....not sure!?

Anything 96 and newer is an OBDII vehicle and has pre and post cat O2 sensors.

No precat on a '97..however there are 4 O2's..one in each downpipe, one before and one after the cat.

Re: Emissions Question

Well if you're going through all the trouble of a V8 swap I think we are all assuming that you are going to run a true dual setup with 2 cats. I think you are thinking about this too hard, it's really not hard at all. Are you making the harness or is someplace like CPW doing it?
