carb or ls motor??
I am wanting to put a V8 into my 97 S10, and I have been doing alot of research on here about different motors. I am wondering if it is better to just build a regular 350 with a carb, or build a 6.0 liter ls motor. I am looking for a good reliable motor with good power that is also cost effective. Any help trying to figure out which route to go would be appreciated.

Re: carb or ls motor??
I would go 6.0 Liter LS engine hands down on reliability, power and easy to find parts for. Cost Effective I would go Carb. It would be a cheaper build and depending on how you build you could build the same amount of power as you could with an LS but with less hassle. With the LS engine you will have to either modify the LS harness or have CP make you a harness.

Re: carb or ls motor??
im partial to old school so im voting a carb setup. you can build a reliable 350 that will make decent power on a budget. hell bore it and make a 355 with decent cam and heads and youll have a good power motor, get a electric choke edelbrock carb and it will be very reliable and not be in as much money as you would with a ls1 swap.
just my .02 but ive never done a ls1 swap either but from what ive read it is pretty costly by the time you include your fuel system and harness |

Re: carb or ls motor??
just do a carbed ls 6.0, put a nice cam in it and good to go. if you can find a complete 6.0(drop out) with harness, computer and all efi stuff, you can sell that stuff to buy the carbed intake and contoller. you would need to keep a few things the controller needs to plug into, but could sell the rest or keep it all for when you feel you want to swap the efi stuff back on. your cheapest way to 400hp imo.

6.0L hands down. Carbed or keeping efi, still killer motor.
