Cam Question
I have a cam question. I am getting ready to put a 305 tbi in my 4.3tbi s10. We are taking the 305 .30 over with flat top pistons. What kind of cam should I use? I am looking to get the motor to have a nice deep sound. My grandfather is helping me build the motor. He has built tons of carb motors, but not many fuel injected engines. So, he wasn't 100% sure on the type of cam to use. Thanks in advance for all of the help.

Re: Cam Question
A whole lot depends on what it is you are trying to do with it. And what other parts you will be running.

Re: Cam Question
The motor is going to be pretty much stock other than cam and taking it over 30. We are going to rebuild it; it is going to have the stock heads with a new valve job, stock crank, .30 over pistons, a new cam, and maybe some bigger injectors. That's all I can think of right off. Let me know if I left anything out that needs to be added.

Re: Cam Question
TBI doesnt allow you to use many cams. for example...Comp Cams only makes 1 TBI cam.
I would put a carb on it, maybe even swap to TPI. |

Re: Cam Question
I am going to keep the tbi, because I don't want to have to change out the wiring harness. I will check with comp cams and see what kind of cam they suggest. I appreciate all of the help.

Re: Cam Question
Call the summit tech line and ask if this cam will work for you... The summit part number is 1103.. I use this on my carbed 327. Has good low end torque and pulls real well, best part is you can use a stock converter, so I think it will work for a tbi setup.
