Re: Body Drop v8 Question
my truck is bodied with a v8 and heres a few things ive noticed along the way:
- if you plan on running a stock hood, expect to do a LOT of creative cutting, and your choice of intakes is severely limited, you may even be forced to go with a LT1 engine... buy a big bottle of asprins, youll need it... im running a goodmark 2.5 inch cowl hood and i still have to cut/relocate the underbracing, and im running fuel injection with is lower a lower profile than a carb and air cleaner is - headers depends on how your truck is bodydropped... if its traditional then headman makes a set of nice longtubes that do not hang below the frame... if its stock floor'd then shorty headers or weld up your own, ive yet to come across a set of longtubes that dont hang lower than the engine cradle theres a few places that sells the mounts, mine came from trans dapt |

Re: Body Drop v8 Question
you can do a few things with your fuel setup, you can either do a pressure regulator like you say, but make sure it can go down as far as 7-8 psi, thats what a carb operates at, but that may cause issues with flow... i dont know though, the pressure will be there, but cfm may drop, im not too certain how a regulator regulates pressure, if you go this route ask someone who knows for sure or you can pull out (or disable) the factory in tank pump and just use the mechanical pump on thats on the side of the engine and you wont have any problems |

with the headers i didnt want them to hit my control arms is why i was asking i was told that to start with 2.8 mounts instead of the 4.3 they set lower. |

Re: Body Drop v8 Question
Its a stock style oil pan, The headers came from sanderson, they are the angle plug version headers. I had a set of strait plug headers also they were just cheap ones from summit. I did end up changing the steering shaft. ![]() |

Re: Body Drop v8 Question
yes you can use the stock pan, you can even use high capacity pans because the extra room is added to the sides, not the bottom, so they dont sit any lower than a stock pan would
like i said earlier, my truck is stock floor'd, though things are still in mock-up, it looks like the pan will have at least 2 inches of ground clearance when laid out |

Re: Body Drop v8 Question
I think they confused 2.2 with using the 2.8 mounts because allegedly the 2.8 mounts can be used and have a lower profile. but im not sure about that.
