383 enigne

Okay i didn't want to post a project thread just quite yet cause i havn't got the motor yet. But one of my friends is selling his 383 bored .60 over with a voodoo cam and 750 holley card weind intake and some je pistons. He is going to sell it to me for $150 for only the motor and $200 with the turbo 350. I already checked compression, turned out good i just need to know what else i should check for because it needs all the belts and an alternator and that is it. Oh and it will be going in my 2.8 91 s10.

.060 over 383 eh? It think that's a little more than 383. 350's with .030 and the 400 crank make 383's. I guess since 383's are sometimes known to have heating problems. the thinner cylinder walls may concern me...

correct me if i'm wrong.

yeah a 383 thats .060 over has an actual displacement of 389.4, but people look at you funny when you tell them odd sizes like that, 383 is easier, and yeah, .060 is getting scary, you are at the absolute end of that engines life, you cannot rebuild anymore, the only way you can go from here is to have the entire block resleeved or dry block it, but you cant really run a dry block on the street

i would disagree on the temp... my 383 never had a heating problem, infact it never seen above 190 even sitting in traffic on a summer day

thats rediculously cheap for that engine, i would be careful... it either A) isnt a stroker, B) doesnt have the parts you say it does in it, C) something is wrong with it, or D) all of the above....

or its stolen.....

Re: 383 enigne

Just the Holley carb & intake are worth $150, so it does sound pretty cheap. Must be a good friend.
