Thats a sweet pic.
What times are you running? In the 1/8 or 1/4

Looks nice.
Bright red always looks nice on the ST.

Re: 1st Gen Bigblock Installation

It's really a junk motor built from leftover parts from my malibu. 7.2's in the 1/8th.....bracket bomber. It gets a roller motor upgrade over the winter.

Sounds like some good times.
I don't think I would call it a junk motor though.

Re: 1st Gen Bigblock Installation

This is definitely a clean and very nice truck. That motor does look like it was put in there by GM right out of their factory. I hope you don't have to sell it. That's something you should keep in your family if you can. Nice ass truck man.

When I do decide to let it go I will post it here.

Thats a sweet truck you got there. That big block does look like it came from the factory like that! I can tell you put a lot of work under the hood to make it look clean. Very nice!

Thanks for all of the.....huh...comments, somebody must have been drinking.

The tailgate letters are GM that came on the 92 Silverado Sport pickups.

Yea I like to compliment someone who does a nice job on their trcuk because I know how much work it takes to get a truck like the one you have. I have done many trucks but not as nice as yours and there were many days and nights working on them.

Did you get that sticker from the dealer? I would like to get one as well.

Man, I've got to tell ya, i never in a million years ever thought that a big block would fit into an s10 without sacrificing all the good and just makin the truck all engine. My first truck was an 85 s-10 blazer with the 2.5 iron duke motor, did great offroad, but anything but that, well, 73 mph downhill with the wind to your back was about all it had. blew 2 engines out of that thing. but i have an internal love for these little critters, i always have. Before i was deployed, I purchased a 455 Buick engine with a turbo 400 connected to it in hopes to build a muscle car when i returned. but after consideration, i decided that i would be happier with another s-10, but built this time. so i thought the engine was lost and i would have to sell it. NOT ANYMORE. thanks to you, i can save the engine and have a kick ass little truck. and i've got to tell ya, that 400 is tucked in tighter than a 4 year old on christmas eve. i can't stop staring at the picture of the engine compartment. its just gorgeous. looks great, beyond great, but i am going to quit takin up space on your page here, just wanted to say thank you for your hard work.
ANDY
P.S: really waitin on more pictures man, that little truck is just sweet.

I did get it from the dealer.....but that was back sometime ago. They may be able to get them. You would be suprised at what the dealer can still get.
If not, anyone that makes decals should be able to handle it. A buddy of mine had some smaller 454 SS decals made for his S-10 from a pencil rubbed template that he made from his fullsize 454 truck. They turned out really nice and fit the bedsides of the S-10 great.

No problem Andy, glad you like it, like I said before, I'm glad that people enjoy checking it out.
I haven't seen any done to the extent that I did it. Most people are looking for something quick.
I wanted to be able to cruise in it, and wasen't so much concerned about how fast it was.
Good luck with your project.

Hey Tim,

I've decided that I'm just not going to have the time or the resourses to accomplish what you have done. I'm going to go with a 383 from blueprint engines instead. Thanks for your help though.

Do you have roller rockers?
Was wondering if the valve covers will clear roller rockers.

Not even close to hitting. Look at this pic.
Brake booster in the back, and valve cover to your left.

Im thinking about possibly doing a 2.8L to V8 swap in my 1st gen s10 blazer. Can anyone give me a fair estimate on what the parts alone would cost?

Look here for a small block swap http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f10/sw...estions-23481/ you should find something there.

If you have any questions about a BB Swap I will be glad to help.

Cost doing the BB the way I did wasn't the most expensive way but not the cheapest either.

Re: 1st Gen Bigblock Installation

I think your truck is great! I just got a 454 to put in my truck and I would like to ask you a few questions. What kind of intake is that? The other question that I have is do you have a picture that shows the whole steering shaft that you made?

Prostock32 - What kind of headers are those? If you made them how did you know how long to make them? Do you have any pictures of the drivers side header, I would like to know how you got around the steering.

I believe it is a Performer, not sure if its the RPM though, I ground the name off for a smooth look.
I will post some more pics of the steering shaft tonight.

Re: 1st Gen Bigblock Installation

I has some questions about the steering column and how it looked. This is the only shots I have. It seems crazy but works with no problems.

Steering from firewall. The curved bracket on the column is for the shifter. It uses a B&M shift cable instead of the metal rod.

Steering column to the heim joint. The heim joint is bolted to a bracket that is welded to the frame.

Heim joint, then by the exhaust and to the steering column. The rub marks you see is from when it is in reverse, but its not major, if it was you would see alot of shiny metal.

Closer view to the steering box.

Re: 1st Gen Bigblock Installation

Thanks for the pictures. Do you know if any other steering boxes will work. I have one that is from another car, not sure what car. I do have the numbers off it at home I could give you if you could tell me if it would work or not. My truck does not have power steering now and I will upgrade before putting the motor in.

Any advice would be great. I'm looking for a cheap box.
