Big Block S10's = SEXY
It is a LED third brake light from a 90s Nissan 300 ZX.

That light was mounted on the top of the rear glass. It is actually 1/2in longer on each but the curve matched the S-10 roof curve perfect.
I just cut the hole short a little shorter than the light.

A section of the roof inside was cut out around the interior light. Then I made some mounting tabs that bolt to a section of the roof flange that holds the light.

I then bolted the light in from the inside, welded some tabs for the section that was cut out so it could be bolted back in and still have excess to get to the third brake light if it needed to be replaced.
It still looks stock inside the headliner covers it all.

Re: 1st Gen Bigblock Installation

Sorry guys! No times.

I built the truck to drive and not to race. I spent alot of nights welding, grinding, sandblasting and painting. (lots of detail to look stock).

Its not hard to get the engine out but not as easy as a smallblock either, so the last thing I wanted to happen was something break and have to redo something.

I know it sounds stupid but I enjoy driving it around town and out of town.

I do wonder what it would run though.

Re: 1st Gen Bigblock Installation

tlambert, I pose a question to ya;

based on the difficulty of the build and the fact that it was possible to do, do you think it would be possible to put a 6.6L Duramax Turbo Diesel in a 2nd gen (newer style) S10? I'm wanting to do this down the road and i've heard that it would be about as difficult as a BB swap. The motor is a V8 configuration in case you didn't know...

thanks!

Why does it look like a small block? Looks like there's only 4 bolts on the valve cover... Got a pic of the exhaust manifolds??

Re: 1st Gen Bigblock Installation

If all you're doing is swapping in a 9" you don't need to modify the frame, you just need to make sure your axle is te right width and the leaf perches are in the right location.

If you want to run slicks and build a drag truck then you'll likely want to narrow the frame and box it. Then do the above anyways.

Re: 1st Gen Bigblock Installation

Thanks guys for all of the props on the Truck!

I still have the truck but haven't driven it in awhile. I have been working on my shop trying to get into shape after buying it in Feb.06. My plan is to start small into automotive restoration and in 2 years go full time. I haven't decided to sell yet cause I don't need to, but when I do I will post up something about it and I'm thinking around $18,000, yes I know thats alot but I put alot of heart, tons of time and a little bit of money into everything in this truck and didn't just build it to sell in the beginning, but planned on driving it.

layinbody31, After this anything has to be possible, but looks like alot of stuff on those engines and not alot of room to mount stuff under the hood of the ST.
dropped94, thats one problem I do seem to have and thast nOT getting rid of projects, Man I gotta learn to cut them loose.
98Sonoma, The fronts are 15x 6, don't remember the off set but its more to the outside.
Fast_s10, I'm glad u like it and that means alot, its nice to know people appreciate the work I did.
KRONY, All BBC, maybe u need a bigger screen! Just kidding!
foxs87s10, not sure what to say. Thanks!

Final thing, Hot Rod Power tour was here in Cola town and they did a photo shoot of the truck and some of other trucks that day too. Not sure if they will use it, haven't seen anything on Hotrods web site yet.
It would be sweet though!
I'm here http://www.kustomcoachwerks.com/ on the forums most of the time send me a PM there. I'll get it and jump over to shoot the bull.

Don't have a good camera to do vids.
I had a V-8 King cab Long bed I built some time ago, drove it somewhat stock looking then lowered it, it looked like it was 20 ft long with it lowered. I will get the pics of it scanned and post them.

$$ as much as I could get!

Hi, I am wanting to put a 460 in a ranger, would a big block be too wide to lay out on a bodydropped truck with 20s?

I guess you are going to just have to trust me, besides how would I be able to list in detail all of the things I did and part #s if there wasen't a BBC in it?

I can post some better pics next time I get on my office computor, which might be awhile since I'm on summer vacation.

Chris can't say about the ranger, but the blazer could work, the problem is going to be with the tunnel and firewall, but anything is possible, you may want to ask these guys that has experience with BDing.

I know there is a section for members projects and don't want to post alot of pics in this topic, also didnt want people e-mailing or asking about buying this, so here is my new project.

I call this my 9 cent car. No BS! Got it on Fathers day 2006, haven't had much time to work on it to start it.
Its been sitting since 1989. 1967 one owner (my uncle) 65,000 OG miles. Has all of the papers since he bought it new.

Re: 1st Gen Bigblock Installation

I guess you now have two "first Gens"! The Camaro is def. a keeper....they're going up every day.
As a fellow BBC S10 owner, I must say you have one slick truck! Very nicely done and I love the "driver" style. Oh, and keep the flat hood!

Thanks for the props!

When I was building the truck keeping the stock hood was one of the goals. It gives it that......"it can't be a BB with the stock hood on it"
I've heard that alot.

Do you have any pics posted of your truck? I would love to see it.
