Dude i think you need new everything, tranny is gonna be run by a computer which i believe communicates with the engine computer and that is gonna need to be ripped. And if thats so you need to goto a different tranny and then your spedo prolly wont work. And for emissions reasons you will never be able to pass because u need a motor from a vehicle of the same year or greater, and the government has a law that states the same thing.

I think your taking on way too much of a project.

Re: 01 350 carb swap

Go with a TBI 350 instead of one with a carb.

Re: 01 350 carb swap

The first thread (by stick) on the V-8 discussion board has a ton of info. First yeah you would have to swap the tranny out for a 700R-4 or a th-350 long tail (I belive the tail shaft is 9 inchs vs 6 inchs) or they do make a trans harness for the 4L60-e if you want to keep it but that runs about $1800 with all the parts. There is also a lot of rewiring you would have to do for the engine. I dont know about texas but they really dont care in michigan if you slap a carbureted 8 cylinder where a fuel injected 6 used to be. The TBI swap would be just as hard because the system you have now is CMPFI (completely different injection system). Another words the computer and harness are not compatable with TBI. I have heard of swapping a 5.7 out of a fullsize and taking the computer with it, as long as both the fullsize and s10 have same accessories. You can keep the 4L60-e but a few wires would have to be changed for the engine, extra injector wires and O2 wires.

You could also go to http://www.jagsthatrun.com/ for more info.

Re: 01 350 carb swap

My mistake yeah he is right not TBI but the 5.7 Vortecs found in many late 90's C/K and G-vans. It's close to the same engine just two cylinders chopped off and other odds and ends but the fuel system is the same in terms of theory. It'd be a great engine they came with roller lifters after 93'.
