Well I decided to put in a different TH350 tranny with a trans brake and a 3800 stall. And well "since im there" and need a different driveshaft because of the standard length tailshaft, I'll build up the Ford 9" ive had in my garage out of an old 70's ford wagon. The 'ol 7.5 10 bolt would not have stood up to launches at the track off a 3800 stall trans brake! I'll post pics soon on my day off. I'll let you know how the installation goes!
Yea Im gonna do everything i can to get it to Nats. I need a trailer and someone to tow it this year. Last year the first motor i put in it had defective oil control rings on the pistons and it was blowing thru 2 quarts of oil every 100 miles, I had the engine redone with different rings and now its fine. This project should be done in May.
hmm.. i am no professional on cams but 3800 stall seems bit high. I run a 2800 stall and my cam is XE274H LIFT .487"/.490" Duration 274/286. But hey sounds like she will be a beast.
God damn i love that truck, and its only getting better! I gawked under the hood of that thing for 30 minutes straight at the Niagra Falls meet, good work man, keep it up! hope to see you again this year!

Those numbers are ADVERTISED duration, the duration number you want to compare all cams to, is the @ .050 duration, it's the duration standard. So your @ .050 might be around 224/236, a very streetable cam choice for a 2800 stall, and with your NOS kit, its gotta make a shitload of torque! Im going for more top end so my @ .050 is 242/248 and a 3800 stall is required to get it off the line!
yeah mine is @.050 as well according to Jegs. I didnt build the engine so i just got the spec sheets and component list. But it is evident you know cams better then me. Thats one reason i didnt build my own. Plus i didnt wanna drop 2k into it and not put much to the ground. So i paid 2500 and recieved 407HP and 431TQ (builder said it actually peaked at 440TQ but dyno sheet shows 431) engine balanced/blue printed and broke in on the dyno.

You can drive a 3800 stall, I run a 4000 and My buddies Dime runs a 4500.... Are ya'lls numbers at the ground? I see a lot of 400hp trucks on here that shouldnt make that kinda power...I think people over rate their hp #'s a tad bit...Also my cam is 262/271 @ .50, lol

I've used that camshaft during several builds before I started running hyd rollers. I like not having to worry about camshaft break in now. It is an excellent hyd flat tappet camshaft. It has 106 lobe centerlines and a lumpy idle. However I used 1.6 rockers to bring up the lift numbers.

Yea I wanted the biggest hyd. cam I could get at the time(8 years ago)because I didnt want to mess with the valves all the time. And in a s10 you dont have much room to keep pulling the covers off. When I first fired it off i had the timing screwed and it took about 20 seconds and I burnt up a set of $600 of coated headers. It was lava orange(headers) so I was thinking oh hell, bout to have a big melt down .So I let it run for about 2 minutes then I started getting real worried.shut it down and fixed the timing and fired it back up and never wore the lobes off the cam or nothing, been 8 years ago now and it is still kicking assto this day
You should have made a brace for the 9" on the rear, I would have one on mine but it would be just the width of the chunk, lol... coil over mounts, ladder bar mounts and wheelie bar mounts get in the way in a hurry on a 2x" wide housing
