Keywords: Boston Acoustics components speakers tweeters headunit cd player equalizer

Description
First I have for sale a used Alpine CDA-9855 headunit. I bought it used from a friend and have had it for about a year and a half. Mechanically it's 8/10. The volume knob will have it's moments where it won't want to register with the headunit and it won't work for a click or two. If you position the knob differently it'll work just fine. It isn't a huge issue but worth mentioning. Cosmetically it's about a 6/10. There are some surface scratches on the faceplate of the headunit, none that are very deep though.

About 8 months ago, I started getting this "thump" in the left channel of the headunit. I have no idea how to describe what it is, or what's wrong, but only that it was a "thump". I think the best way to describe it, is it would be a turn on thump, except it would be in the middle of the song. When it would thump, it would be in the exact same spot of the song, on the exact same note, but only when it was at 80% volume or more. At lower volumes, it wouldn't make this thump. This was with me using the RCA preouts being sent to a JL 300/2, not the internal amplifier of the headunit. I can't say that the internal amplifier is undamaged as I've never used it. The unit does power on every time with no hesitation, the motorized face plate works 100%, CD's eject 100%, it plays CD's 100%. The only issue is that "thump" that I've mentioned.

I am a man of my word and by no means do I want to "rip anyone off". I just want this to be said so the buyer is well informed about his/her decision. With this being said, the headunit is being sold as is.

I don't have the original box, just the headunit, faceplate and trim ring.

I'm asking $80 or best offer. I've seen the faceplate alone go for about this much on ebay, so I figure if you buy the faceplate for this much, you'll get the rest of the headunit for free from me.

Buyer covers shipping fees.

Up next is an Alpine ERE-G180 equalizer. I bought this used locally from an older fellow who was getting out of car audio. I was told he bought it new back in 1997. I love the older "vintage" Alpine stuff so I figure I'd give this a try. After my 9855 issue I got a 9887 and decided not to use the equalizer anymore, so I don't have a use for this.

Cosmetically I'd give it an 8/10. For being 12 years old this thing is in GREAT condition. The only thing that I can bring up about the cosmetic condition of it is that there are light surface scratches on the top of the unit. I stacked my 9855 on top of the ere-g180 and custom mounted them in my s10 (1.5din) so from installation it has some scratches on the top of it. I have the original box and owners manual (with plastic!) which will obviously be included with the eq.

Mechanically it is a 10/10. The unit works perfectly. Powers up with no issues and has strong 4v preouts.
I'm asking $80 for the equalizer. I'm pretty firm on the price but I'll be open to reasonable offers.

I also have a set of Boston Acoustics Pro60SE components. I bought these back in March of '09 and ran them until about June or so. They were powered by a JL 300/2 and were housed in custom fiberglass kick panels in my S10.

Back in June, I had my system cranked coming home from work one day and I heard a "pop" from the passenger's side. About 4 seconds later, I could smell a hint of what a burnt component would be. Wasn't very strong, but noticeable. I'm very "mental" about my sound system, so I immediately thought I burnt a tweeter as the passenger's side wasn't as detailed as the driver's side. I swapped the tweeters and sure enough, the lack of detail switched sides. A couple days later I bought new tweeters directly from Boston. When the tweeters were on their way, I decided to swap the mids too. With the tweeters turned off, lack of detail switched sides when I switched woofers too. This leads me to believe that the passenger's woofer is damaged too.

In the pictures, I have a close up picture of the passenger's side woofer as described above. Around the inner part of the cone, where the cone meets the voice coil (I think?) you can see some white residue. I'm assuming this is what's been damaged, as the other woofer doesn't have this residue. To be honest, I doubt your average high school kid with just subs in his car will notice the difference between the sides. It isn't like the woofer doesn't play at all, it plays fine, just maybe 1db softer or less detailed than the other side.

Cosmetically these speakers are 9/10. They show very little signs of wear and could almost be passed on as new. Crossovers are mint, and the new tweeters barely have fingerprints on them. I have all of the required mounting hardware for the tweeters and woofers and they'll be included in the sale.

I take these woofers as "damaged" so with that being said, these will be sold as is. I want the buyer to be aware of this. I'm a man of my word and have absolutely zero intent of "ripping anyone off".

What will be included in the sale:
(2) 6.5" mids
(2) 6.5" grilles
(2) used tweeters, 1 of which I think is damaged
(2) brand new tweeters that have never seen power
(2) crossovers
Original box
Owners manual
Hex bit
All required mounting hardware for tweeters and woofers (including the on-axis mounts)

The tweeters and crossovers themselves go for $170 on ebay brand new. It's tough to put a price on damaged equipment, but I feel the 2 brand new tweeters and crossovers are worth that much. I'll be open to reasonable offers.

New Price of $100

Here is the residue that I mentioned. Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest, camera kinda sucks close up.

Here is the good woofer for a comparison:

Brand new tweeters:

Crossovers:

If anyone has any questions at all I'll be happy to answer them. Buyer covers shipping.

Thanks for looking!
